"...What can you tell us about the title and meaning behind your upcoming release?
Black Syrup, which is the name of one of my favourite tracks off the EP. The song was originally available as a demo in the very earliest days of Novacrow, but we desperately wanted to record it properly. It always gets a fantastic response when we play it live and we wanted to capture the raw, heaviness of a live performance. The lyrics are deliberately cryptic, but ‘black syrup’ itself refers to the texture of latex. I love it as a title, because the song encapsulates the kind of carnival vibe that we use in our stage shows. It has a deliberate burlesque feel to it and that really comes across in the fantastic comic-style artwork done by Jonyx, our guitarist..."
